Today in class, we were asked to find a website that we thought demonstrated a certain acronym that we use in electronic marketing. The acronym presents itself as AIDA, which stands for attention, interest, desire, and action. The website I chose to use as an example is the Salt Lake Bees main page, http://www.milb.com/index.jsp?sid=t561.

A=Attention. The Salt Lake Bees page first can catch my attention because of the colors in the background. The main color is black, and then there is a yellow highlight that is on both sides of the page’s content. The yellow can draw your eyes towards the content which is what the website wants from the reader. And another key part of attention is where it is found in a search engine. This website was the very first link found on Google when I typed in Salt Lake Bees.

I=Interest.  The interest on this page starts with the picture that is obviously the main link of the home page. The picture can link to whatever the title is stating. Since the Salt Lake Bees’ season is over, the first picture and its title will link you to their overall season review. And then when you highlight your cursor over the first image, all the other links show up underneath and you can see what those link to. This is the interest because of all the information that is presented to the reader. Also, there are a lot of links on the top of the home page that allow you to purchase tickets, see their schedule, see statistics and scores, and allow you to shop for Bees merchandise.

D=Desire.  Desire is a part of this website due to all of the pictures and videos given on the page. There is a link where you can watch all of the season’s game highlights. This is an example of desire because after the Salt Lake Bees have caught the attention and interest of the reader, they need to keep them by showing them a reason to stay. The highlights will show the great times that the Bees experienced throughout their season. Seeing these highlights can create desire and want a reader to purchase tickets.

A*=Action.  As I stated before, there is a link above the home page where you can purchase tickets. The first thing that you see when you come to this page is a banner that says no online fees. This is an action example because when I saw that, I immediately thought that is a positive to buying tickets online rather than right before the game. They have a neat setup where you can see the exact seating of Spring Mobile Ballpark and then see where you want to sit for a ball game.
